As of November 30, 2022, the AirPass program is no longer accepting new or renewal contracts. The AirPass program will be sunsetting, with all program functionality to end by March 31, 2024. AirPass will no longer accept additional funds for existing contracts.
You will continue to receive your AirPass benefits on travel throughout the remainder of your contract term while using the balance of your AirPass funds. These benefits may include member Wi-Fi subscriptions, Admirals Club® access and complimentary inflight amenities. AAdvantage® status granted through AirPass, and the status-related benefits it includes, will follow the AAdvantage® status term.
AAdvantage Gold®, AAdvantage Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro® and AAdvantage Executive Platinum® status awarded through AirPass membership will be valid through March 31, 2024.
To keep or extend your AAdvantage® status beyond March 31, 2024, you must meet the required Loyalty Point threshold. Visit aa.com/status for more information on qualifying for AAdvantage® status.
No. As of November 30, 2022, members are no longer able to add funds to their contract. Your remaining balance may continue to be used to book travel as normal through the end of your contract.
AirPass funds can be used to book future travel through the end of March 31, 2024, regardless of contract end date. All flight segments must be booked before the contract end date and completed by 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2024. Please note that any travel that extends beyond the contract end date will not include AirPass benefits and is not eligible for rebooking. Future travel may be cancelled for a refund at any time.
Please contact AirPass Customer Service at airpass@aa.com to close your account and process a refund for the remaining balance. Refunds are provided within 4-6 weeks, with additional details to follow your request.
Yes. We will provide refunds of the remaining AirPass balance upon request. Please contact AirPass Customer Service at airpass@aa.com to process the refund and to close your account. Any upcoming reservations booked using AirPass funds will be cancelled upon account closure, with the cancelled tickets included in the refund balance. Travel will need to be rebooked as a non-AirPass ticket.
Refunds and account closures will not impact most AAdvantage® status assigned through AirPass. However, benefits received through AirPass membership, such as Admirals Club access and your Wi-Fi subscription, will end upon account closure. Your AirPass balance will be refunded within 4-6 weeks.
The AirPass account management platform will continue to be available for your use throughout the remainder of your contract to manage members, review flight activity, and view and download account reporting and statements.
Statements will continue to be accessible through the AirPass account management platform through June 30, 2024, and you can continue to contact AirPass Customer Service at airpass@aa.com for statements until December 31, 2024.

Yes. Your AAdvantage® number is stored within your AirPass member profile, so earned miles are automatically accrued as you fly on AirPass. When traveling with a companion, each traveler will earn their own AAdvantage® miles and the travel will count towards their individual Loyalty Point requirements for AAdvantage® status.
AirPass travel must be booked and ticketed through American Airlines® and may be used on American Airlines®, American Eagle®, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and Japan Airlines.
AirPass members may check in on the American Airlines app, aa.com or at the Priority check-in counters at the airport.
Yes. All AirPass members automatically receive Priority baggage delivery, so you can get where you need to go faster.
All members receive complimentary Admirals Club membership through AirPass. If your AirPass account manager has enabled Admirals Club access, simply provide a government-issued photo identification and your AAdvantage® number to the Admirals Club representative.
Members with iOS devices may also check in to the Admirals Club using their digital Admirals Club membership card, available within the American Airlines app.
Members enjoy a complimentary snack or fresh meal and two standard alcoholic beverages when traveling. When traveling on AirPass with a companion, you each enjoy a complimentary snack or fresh meal and one standard alcoholic beverage. A complimentary domestic Wi-Fi is also provided through your individual AirPass Wi-Fi code.
Yes. When traveling on AirPass, members can purchase Five Star Service™ using available AirPass funds for any cabin of service. Prior to booking, contact Reservations to create a Five Star profile with your AirPass UATP number. Five Star Service reservations may then be made by contacting 877-578-2702 (877-5STAR-02) to book.

Members enjoy last-seat availability and can book one-way and round-trip fares in unrestricted First (F), Business (J), Premium Economy (W), or Main Cabin (Y) without incurring any change or cancellation fees.
Members who schedule travel arrangements at least seven days in advance have access to a limited-inventory PlanAhead (H) option that provides additional savings off the standard Main Cabin AirPass fare, subject to availability.
AirPass provides full flexibility for members to make changes to or cancel trips without incurring fees, including on PlanAhead travel. However, any changes made less than seven days prior to departure will be subject to the standard Main Cabin fare and is no longer eligible to receive the PlanAhead discount.
Fares are deducted immediately upon booking, providing real-time visibility to available travel funds.
To move your reservation to an earlier or later flight same-day, contact American Airlines Reservations at 800-433-6464. For changes to date or destination with your AirPass itinerary, please cancel and rebook via aa.com, your preferred travel agent, American Airlines Reservations or the gate agent at the airport.

Yes. When booking an AirPass flight, an Instant Upgrade (UP fare) inventory can be requested at time of booking and will be automatically applied based on seat availability. All fare rules must be followed. Please note that Instant Upgrade availability changes per market.
Complimentary upgrades will be auto-requested for AAdvantage® status members traveling within North America. AAdvantage® status members may use earned systemwide upgrades to upgrade to the next class of service on travel while flying on AirPass.
There is no need to fly stand-by with AirPass. When traveling on a standard AirPass fare, simply change your existing reservation to reflect your new travel plans. AirPass members enjoy preference with last-seat availability, so if there’s a seat open on the flight, it’s yours. When traveling with a PlanAhead ticket, members can confirm a seat for same-day flight changes without incurring a fee.
Yes. All taxes, fees and surcharges are already included in the price of the AirPass fare and are deducted from the member's account upon ticketing.
No. AirPass members are exempt from phone reservation fees when booking travel directly with an American Airlines Reservations representative.
